Hex Map Rivers

I just knocked out generation of rivers in my hex map terrain generator, using a simple algorithm that starts a river at the same starting hex as one of the mountain ranges, and has it begin in a direction toward the closest body of water.  The river snakes in that direction, with a 25% chance of changing direction slightly each hex.  The river ends when it dumps into a water hex.

A few other tweaks ensure that hexes next to rivers become either plains or forest if they were desert ... think how the Nile cuts through the surrounding desert in Egypt.  Having lived in Cairo for six months not too long ago I know I'm speaking from experience.

Now that basic terrain generation is largely complete, I will focus more fully on producing random generators in www.dmmuse.com to populate hexes with Major and Minor Encounters.  After all of the generators are complete, it'll be a snap to get the random gazetteer generator up and running on the site.
